According to the Construction Skills Network we're looking at a shortfall of more than 180,000 construction workers in terms of what's required to complete all the work on the 2012 Olympic project (sports facilities, buildings, infrastructure, Crossrail etc). The CSN said the UK's construction workforce would need to rise by 88,000 a year to a total of 2.8m people by 2012 to meet demand, but was confident that the shortfall could be made up by training people and hiring migrant workers.
